She currently works as the Continuing Education, Program Director for HCC Northwest, where she is making a difference by developing programs that help local professionals and skilled technical employees expand their careers or acquire the technical and soft skills needed to grow within their companies and contribute to economic growth.
Integrating Community Initiatives and Partnerships with non-traditional Eco-system Building to enhance the Higher Education experience among all participants. Engaging current audiences and adopting entrepreneurial skills and mindset to elevate innovation within the industry.
Researching, developing and implementing Continuing Education programming that will fill the various needs of our community while matching those needs with the Credentials of Value currently offered at HCC. Ensuring that we are strategically scheduling the needed programs on the West side of Houston fulfilling the gaps in this area of the city.
Building cohesive and successful ecosystems through Higher Education, local community resources that will boost economic development and resiliency efforts.
Connie Leon has also worked to rebuild the Small Business Maker Ecosystem through cohesive and resilient efforts that will boost local economic development with a local Creative/Maker small business community of over 400 alumni including women; LGBTQIA+; Latino-owned businesses through educational programming, makerspace tool training, access to resources, and community building, in addition to, conducting local manufacturing and economic growth research and opportunities.
As a graduate from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Houston, Connie recognized the impact and importance of communities being impacted and represented. In 2013 she founded and created the local organization, Houston Latina Bloggers, now known as Houston Latina Collaborative, that is formed of over 800 Latino members and has a following of 16.6K organic followers on Instagram.
As a proud and divorced Momma of "Dos"; Connie’s dream team includes her two extraordinary children, Camila, a 13-year-old aspiring performer/athlete; and Santiago, a 15-year-old athlete/designer. Authentic and unapologetic, Connie has been featured on various platforms, been invited to speak at local/ national conferences, and has hosted several impactful themed events on various topics, including relationships/dating in your 40s; co-parenting experience; female empowerment; and creating/ growing a social media presence. As a passion project, she hosts her personal podcasts including 50 First Dates Houston and Taking Back Your Power while running her own consulting firm, The Creativity Well.
Along with running her own consulting company, Connie has volunteered for many local organizations and has been on several Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committees since 2001.
